KitCheck and Fresenius Kabi
Bluesight has made the decision not to renew its partnership with Fresenius Kabi, which previously enabled KitCheck customers to use FK’s +RFID line of products in Bluesight’s systems. With the termination of that agreement, Fresenius Kabi products that were not registered with Bluesight prior to November 6, 2025 will not function within KitCheck systems.
Bluesight’s requirements for manufacturers participating in RFID workflows are straightforward. Manufacturers must register batch information for the RFID products in the Bluesight Registry. This Registry serves as the manufacturers’ record of what was produced. If products appear in the field that were not registered by the manufacturer, it indicates that something is wrong –and a process of diagnosing and rectifying these issues can begin.
Fresenius Kabi was not able to consistently meet the previously stated requirements. For instance, products routinely appeared in hospitals that couldn’t be accounted for, or had duplicated identifiers, or incorrect GS1 encoding formats, including non-drug encoding, that were used on production batches. These and other issues all have solutions, but at this time Fresenius Kabi has chosen not to adopt them.
The claim that these issues have anything to do with GS1 compatibility is false: KitCheck allows manufacturers to register a number of GS1 formats, including the SGTIN+ format Fresenius Kabi selected. However, irrespective of the encoding scheme, the manufacturer must be able to account for all products in their batch, and Fresenius Kabi cannot.
These issues only affect the RFID functionality of Fresenius Kabi’s +RFID product line and does not, to our knowledge, impact the product’s safety.
